There are so many occasions when I need to send money to govt. offices or institute through DD. And they are demanding DD from Nationalised Bank only. My account is in ICICI Bank. Some peoples told me that ICICI Bank is private bank and they will not accept this Bank's DD.
So I draw DD from Bank Of Barod. They are charging me Rs.35/- (for DD upto Rs.10,000). The charge is very high. If i want to send Rs.25/- for application form etc. this charge is more than actual amount!!
Therefore next time I went to Syndicate Bank and they are chaging Rs.23.
But I am looking for Bank with minimum charges for DD.
Have you any info on that?Whic Bank offers lowest bank charges for DD?
All Public Sector Banks have learnt to make money on these fee based services as well. Try approaching low end banks among nationalised ones for least charges. Additionally, these charges are at times are less for account holders than non-account holders. Find out about this also in your vicinity and act accordingly. At times cheaper banks may be a little away and approaching them may cost by way of transportation, parking, time etc. If you add these costs, they actually becomes costlier. Banks also keep revising their charges to encourage or discourage indirectly a particular kind of service or make earnings by such services depending its demand.
Consider all these facts and settle for a bank.Whic Bank offers lowest bank charges for DD?
The charges vary and in slabs.
For example, syndicate Bank, where I am having an account charges like this:
0-upto Rs.500 Rs.10/-
501-1000 15
1001-5000 20
5001-10000 25
10001 and above Rs.2.50 per1000 plus service tax at 12.24%
..the bank charges Rs2/ per 1000 when routed thru an account and Rs.2.50 per 1000 when transacted thru cash plus Ser.Tax
as far as my knowledge goes, Syndicate bank charges less than any other public sector bank and one more thing, most of the bank adopt 2 tier charges, one little less charges for transactions routed thru athe account and the other done by cash..
I know a specific case, ICICI Bank charged Rs.145/- as DD charges for Rs.500/- taken for Anna University entrance exam this academic year.Whic Bank offers lowest bank charges for DD?
